Crying Out Love in the Center of the World  V.S.   My Girl And I

    Vs_2

First.. The Reviews:

Crying out Love in the Center of the World (japanese):

Cryingoutlove_1
Year: 2004

Director: Isao Yukisada

Cast: Takao Osawa, Kou Shibasaki, Masami Nagasawa, Mirai Moriyama, Tsutomo Yamazaki, Kondo Yoshisawa

Based on the best-selling romance by Kyoichi Katayama, the film stars Takao Osawa (Sky High) as Sakutaro Matsumoto, a brooding thirtysomething male engaged to the beautiful Ritsuko Fujimura (Kou Shibasaki from One Missed Call). While packing up boxes for a move, Sakutaro’s fiancée discovers a cassette tape.she finally listens to the cassette and hears a young girl’s voice. Moved to tears by the tape’s content, Ritsuko promptly walks out of Sakutaro’s life, leaving him with only a cryptic note: "I’m going away for awhile. Don’t worry about me."

Confused and unsure of himself, Sakutaro heads to a bar to think things over. By pure chance, he receives an important clue to Ritsuko’s whereabouts. While watching a live television report at the Takamatsu Airport during an impending typhoon, he sees his fiancée hobbling around (plot point!) in the background. The location sparks Sakutaro’s memory banks, plunging the man’s thoughts backwards in time, some seventeen years ago. His current situation, it seems, has origins in the past. The film then shifts perspective to 1986 with young "Saku" (now played by Mirai Moriyama)..Then from here on, Saku’s tragic first love story starts..

..

My Girl And I (korean):

Mygirlandi_1 Year: 2005

Director: Jung Yoon-soo

Cast: Song Hye-Gyo ("Full House"), Cha Tae-Hyun ("My Sassy Girl")

A simple teenager Su-ho and the pretty and popular Su-Eun start dating. Their young love is the object of much jealousy from all the other students, but for Su-ho and Su-Eun, their love just seems splendid and eternal. Until Su-ho finds out something tragic about the girl he loves…
"My Girl and I" is the remake of the Japanese box-office hit "Crying Out Love from the Centre of the World".

My Girl and I is essentially about the intense experience of a first love. For the case of Su-ho (My Sassy Girl’s Cha Tae-hyun), it is so intense that even years after her death, he has not and does not want to get over her. It is a self-torturing process he puts himself through because of his love for Su-eun (Song Hye-gyo).
Su-ho is your average regular kid, while Su-eun is the prettiest girl in the school. Lucky for him, she has had a crush on him ever since they were kids. The relationship develops over time and with a little help from his friends to help speed things up, it is during the trip to Maemul Island that Su-ho realises that he really is in love with Su-eun. As typical as any tragic love story goes, that is also the same moment that tragedy strikes.

Now.. The Comparison:

Faithfulness to the Book:
Crying out Love: They say it’s very faithful to the book.. hehe
My Girl and I: some scenes were changed. some remained faithful.

The Theme:
Crying out Love: very serious, it’s a drama.. -_-
My Girl and I: the lighter side ^_^

Smiles you’ll get:
Crying out Love: a few.. you’ll smile
My Girl and I: You’ll smile and laugh ^_^

Tears you’ll shed:
Crying out Love: Buckets load. prepare your tissues!!
My Girl and I: you’ll be sad..

The Cast:
Crying out Love: They’re good! specailly the girl (teen). she even shaved her hair @_@
My Girl and I: The guy doesn’t quite do well in dramas, but he’s good in comedies. Good thing SHK’s acting here was good.

The Final Verdict:
They’re both good movies. But for me, "Crying out Love" beats "My Girl and I" hands down. My only suggestion is that if you want a more serious approach then watch "Crying out Love in the center of the World" if you want the lighter approach the watch "My Girl And I". ok?

Beat Crusaders - Moon on the Water

Full moon sways
Gently in the night of one fine day
On my way
Looking for a moment with my dear

Full moon waves
Slowly on the surface of the lake
You were there
Smiling in my arms for all those years

What a fool
I don’t know ’bout tomorrow
What it’s like to be
Ah…
I was fool
Couldn’t let myself to go
Even though I feel
The end

Old love affair
Floating like a bird resting her wings
You were there
Smiling in my arms for all those years.

FF7:Advent Children Premieres in Japan

September 21st, 2005 by xtian13

FF7:AC has finally arrived!

i’ve waited 8 yrs for a sequel to FF7 and i’ve waited almost 3 yrs for this movie to arrive.. and now it has arrived.. and i dont know what to do…

Final_fantasy_premiers_in_japan

Following years of development time, screenings at multiple film festivals and too many trailers to count, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children has at last made its public debut. A week prior to the DVD and UMD’s 9/14 Japanese release, Square Enix invited members of the Shinra fan club to the Virgin Cinemas theater in Tokyo’s Roppongi party district for the Japanese premier of Advent Children on the big screen.

The evening began at 6:00PM with the red-carpet arrival of key members of the Advent Children staff. From the film’s creators, including director Tetsuya Nomura, to the voice acting staff who performed the roles for Cloud, Tifa, Aerith and the rest, Advent Children insiders posed for a photo shoot outside the theater, with a backdrop showcasing Cloud and Sephiroth, the two pivotal characters in the FFVII storyline.

Final Fantasy VII fans have been waiting for over eight years to see what happens to Cloud, Tifa and the rest of the FFVII cast following the events of the original PlayStation title. And no, I’m not going to make the wait any shorter by revealing here what happens to them in Advent Children. I’ll suggest that you brush up on the original’s story before seeing the movie, though. The movie kicks off immediately after the end of FFVII, and while there is a bit of background summary at the start, if you don’t know your Jenovas from your Life Streams and your Meteors from your Holys, you’ll probably be lost.

The storyline of FFVII was somewhat opaque, requiring that players pay close attention to every little bit of dialogue, or risk missing far-reaching plot points (this is one of the reasons that having such a thoughtless English language version was troubling). Advent Children is more straightforward, as it attempts to answer many of the questions left from the original story while providing a more fitting conclusion. But with all the names going around and a large cast of characters, keeping up with the storyline in one viewing can be tough, especially following the eight years gap since the original.

my review:

Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children… ahemm… this movie rocks! it’s probably THE best cg animated movie ever created! i mean the animations are just great! everything looks so real (even though they incorporated the movie with anime style looks and movements) the fighting scenes are really cool (the best!).. and the settings looks so real.. the music stays faithful to the original FF7 soundtrack in the game, but with few remix (mostly turned to rock).the storyline’s good too, although it’s still kinda confusing even after watching it several times already and playing the game more than 4 times (start 2 finish) there still some questions left unanswered (that’s why probably they made a FF7:compilation). those who played the game will be satisfied, but those who havent played the game might be confused with the story in AC. (the movie was really meant to satisfy the FF7 players). The only thing i hate is that this is a DVD and UMD release only, that means it wont be shown in theaters (damn! i really wanted to see this on a big screen). overall, this is one heck of a movie. see this one immediately!

(Stupid)Pickup Lines

Are you a parking ticket? (What?) You got fine written all over you.
You make me melt like hot fudge on a sundae.
Can I borrow a quarter? ["What for?"]
… I want to call my mom and tell her I just met the girl of my
dreams.
Pick up a pack of sugar that actually says, "sugar" on
it and say, "You dropped your nametag!".
What does it feel like to be the most beautiful girl in this room?

Do you believe in the hereafter? Well, then I guess you know what  I’m here after.
Are your legs tired, because you’ve been running through my mind  all day long.

Do you have a Bandaid? Because I just scraped my knee falling for you.
There must be something wrong with my eyes, I can’t take them off you.

Girl, you better have a license, cuz you are driving me crazy!
Hey baby, you’ve got something on your butt: my eyes.
Hi, I make more money than you can spend.
I hope you know CPR, because you take my breath away.
Damn, if being sexy was a crime, you’d be guilty as charged!
I must be in heaven because I’m standing next to you!
If I could rearrange the alphabet, I’d put U and I together.
You must be from out of space cause I can see the stars in your eyes.

If you were a booger I’d pick you first.
Can I have directions? ["To where?"] To your heart.
Baby did you fart, ’cause you blow me away!
Hi, I’m Mr. Right. Someone said you were looking for me.
Turn to the girl sitting next to you at the bar and say…
"I’m not really this tall….I’m sitting on my wallet."
Do you believe in love at first sight, or should I walk by again?
When I saw you from across the room, I passed out cold and hit my head
on
the floor…so I’m going to need your name and number for insurance
reasons.
You know what? Your eyes are the same color as my Porsche.
Do you have a map? Because I just keep getting lost in your eyes!
Is there an airport nearby or is that my heart taking off?
Do you have any raisins? No? How about a date?

Halyu! (korean wave)

August 16th, 2005 by xtian13

Well i guess you’ve noticed by now… there are already lots of people who’re caught in the "korean wave" (may it be korean drama series or movie or even korean culture).  Is it because there is an increasing number of koreans staying here in the philippines?.. hmm.. could be.. Lots of pinoys just can’t get enough of korean movies & series.. and i’m one of them. ^_^
Now let me tell how i came to be in this "korean wave".  It was all because of a single korean movie i watched 3 yrs ago… guess what the title of that movie…. guess it….. come on guess…. i know that you know it…. well, if you really don’t know… it was the korean romantic comedy "My Sassy Girl".  This movie showed me the wonderful world of korean movies.  Before i watched this film i tought it would suck.. but instead i was shocked, amazed, baffled, blown away, impressed, etc..after watching the film.  it was soooo good… This movie has a style i’ve never seen before. they have a different way in twisting the storyline, they have a way in mixing comedy with romantic/dramatic scenes, you also feel each character.  The best part was the way the movie never mentioned the Girl’s name (not once).. i barely even noticed ’til someone asked me the name of her character..
the conversation went like this:
friend: pare, ano nga pangalan nun girl sa my sassy girl? yun name nya sa movie ha..
me: ahh.. si ano… si.. uhmm… siii…..hmmm… si… !!! … oH mY GoD! ‘Di kO aLaM!!!

Korean movies today deserve recognition.. their standards can now be compared to Hollywood movies (since they threw out their shitty old cameras and replaced them with hi-tech digital gadgets). Their movies became great! and so are their special effects (try watching "Taegukgi / The Brotherhood".. has nice special fx)  Their storylines is probably their greatest asset.. it’s really amazing how writers come up with these great stories.. i mean it’s just great!.. ^_^
Hmm… i’m kinda getting tired from all this typing… so now i think i’ll just list my top 5 reasons for liking korean movies.. here goes.
top 5 reasons:
1. Excellent storylines
2. Good cinematography
3. Great Acting
4. Nice Soundtracks
5. i Love the Way they Talk! hehe ^_^

^_^.. so there you go.. my top 5 reasons. so when it comes to romantic comedies and dramas.. korean movies is da best! i go to japanese movies when i want to see some blood and gore.. and if i want movies with good graphics, Hollywood flicks are the ones. comedy? nothing beats good ol pinoy comedies. hehe. ^_^
